Steffan Griffiths

 

Steffan Griffiths has been Headmaster of Norwich School since September 2011 and a Governor of London Park Schools since its formation in 2023.

After reading Classics at University College, Oxford, he taught at Tonbridge School (1995-1999) and Eton College (1999-2006). In 2006, he was appointed to the role of Usher (principal deputy head) at Magdalen College School, Oxford. Steffan also holds a first-class honours English Literature degree from the Open University.

As well as playing hockey for England at U18 and U21 level, he was awarded four hockey blues while at Oxford and played in the 1st XI for East Grinstead in the top national league. A rugby and cricket coach at Tonbridge and Eton, he is also a keen golfer with a handicap of 12.

During his school years at Whitgift School, he acted with the National Theatre, both on the South Bank and in European tours. He maintains an active interest in drama.

As well as being Head at Norwich School, Steffan has helped to devise, launch and run charitable initiatives in the wider community to reflect areas of interest, including: creative arts (The Young Norfolk Arts Trust); agricultural education (The Food and Farming Discovery Trust); and the development of language learning (WoLLoW). He also holds several other voluntary non-executive roles as: a governor in the state sector (currently Ormiston Victory Academy); a member of the school improvement Community Interest Company, VNET; Independent Chair of the Norfolk Music Hub; vice-chair of the HMC Sports Sub-Committee; and Chair of the Swifts Sports Trust.

Steffan is married with three children.
