Staff vs Leavers Football Match

On the last day of the academic year, LPSC invited the Year 11s back to school for one last hurrah…the Staff vs Year 11 Leavers football match! The whole school descended on Clapham Common to support the match, and the atmosphere was superb!

Surprisingly, it was the teachers who had the overwhelming support of our younger students, which seemed to unnerve the Year 11s in the early stages. After a fast-paced start, the teachers took an early lead. A well-worked short corner caught the Year 11s off guard, and Mr Gaulton hit a rocket of a shot into the roof of the net! This sparked wild celebrations from the students on the sidelines.

However, Year 11 responded quickly, with Vova S finding the back of the net. After the early goals, the game became very tight, with very few chances created by either side, and it finished 1-1.

There had to be a winner, so it was decided the game would go to penalties! In the initial round of penalties, the teams still couldn’t be separated, with both sides scoring 3 of their 5 penalties. The shootout went to sudden death — a teacher (who will remain unnamed!) missed, and it was Year 11 stalwart Jacob M who slotted home his sudden death penalty to win the game for the Year 11s.
