Christian (Y11H) showed incredible determination and stamina as he took part in the Tour of Britain “Ride the Route” which was a challenging 144km cycling event through the hills and mountains of South Wales.
Starting and finishing in Newport, the course followed the exact route the professionals would race just a day later. Christian tackled steep climbs, rolling hills, and mountain passes with skill and grit, completing the full route in an impressive six hours and eight minutes.
The mountain stages, including the gruelling Rhymney Valley and Caerphilly Mountain, proved no easy feat, but Christian pushed through with courage and focus. Reflecting on the day, he shared how the experience taught him the importance of pacing and perseverance and how thrilling it was to ride the same course as the pros.
