Our Learn like a Londoner curriculum is more than a catchy strapline; it captures our entire philosophy of learning. At LPS Mayfair, education is experiential, immersive and practical. Students do not learn about the world from a textbook, they engage with it directly, using London and its extraordinary institutions as an extension of the classroom.
During the school day, teachers make purposeful use of the school’s surroundings to enrich lessons and deepen understanding. The leafy Royal Parks that surround our school, nearby cultural hotspots of the West End, Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden, as well as world-renowned institutions like the Royal Academy of Arts, the Royal Opera House and the British Museum, are all seamlessly woven into the school day, providing opportunities for students to observe, question, investigate and apply what they have learned in a real-world context. Beyond the immediate neighbourhood, carefully coordinated trips take students further across London and beyond, bringing curriculum content to life and challenging them to think in real world contexts. Museums, theatres, universities, laboratories and professional workplaces allow students to encounter experts, explore new environments and see how their subjects operate in practice.
Proactive and purposeful planning by staff who are trained in experiential, hands-on learning, offer an enriched curriculum across all key stages. Students are encouraged to ask questions, gather evidence, solve problems, reflect on what they have seen and make meaningful links between theory and practice.
