It has been another busy and successful half term for sport at LPS Mayfair, with excellent participation across fixtures, festivals and recreational activities. A particular highlight has been the inclusion of Sixth Form students in our Wednesday Games programme, adding further energy and competition to the sporting calendar.
Sport plays an important role in school life, helping students develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and a sense of belonging, alongside the many physical and mental wellbeing benefits of regular activity. It has been fantastic to see so many students representing the school and embracing opportunities to challenge themselves this term.
It has been a positive and encouraging start to the season for both netball and football, with students across all age groups enjoying opportunities to represent the school in fixtures, tournaments and festivals. Alongside several strong performances and notable results, many students have gained their first experience of competitive sport, developing confidence, teamwork and resilience along the way.
Participation continues to grow across both sports, with increasing numbers of students choosing to get involved. We are particularly proud that opportunities exist for players of all abilities, ensuring every student can enjoy the benefits of sport, whether competing regularly or developing their skills for the first time.
With further fixtures and festivals planned later in the year, there is plenty to look forward to.
Alongside our competitive programme, students have continued to embrace a range of recreational activities. Thursday sessions have combined fitness challenges in Green Park with basketball skills development, and we hope to add fixtures to the programme after half term.
Younger students have also enjoyed a series of teamwork and fitness challenges during Games afternoons. A particular favourite was the giant Floor is Lava challenge, which tested communication, problem-solving and collaboration.
With participation increasing across a growing range of activities, it has been a hugely positive start to the year. We look forward to an even busier second half of term, with a packed fixture schedule and plenty more opportunities for students to represent the school, develop their sporting skills and enjoy being part of a team.
