Clubs and enrichment – Exploring interests beyond the classroom

A rich co-curricular programme is an important part of life at LPS Mayfair, giving students opportunities to explore new interests, develop practical skills and build friendships beyond the classroom.

We have introduced a number of exciting new clubs this half term, while continuing many of our established favourites. It has been fantastic to see so many students embracing opportunities beyond the curriculum and discovering new passions.

One of the standout additions has been DT Club, which has quickly become one of our most popular offerings. Making full use of our impressive new facilities, students have been designing and creating their own projects while learning to use specialist equipment such as 3D printers and workshop tools. Their creations already include a range of jewellery and homeware items, combining creativity, problem-solving and technical skill.

Our Boxing Club continues to provide a fantastic outlet for students under the expert guidance of the coaches from Buddha Box Mayfair. Sessions combine challenging physical training with the development of technical skills, helping students improve their fitness, confidence and resilience. It has been particularly pleasing to see many students progress to controlled sparring and more advanced combinations.

We are also delighted that our new in-school gym facility is now fully operational. Students from all year groups have been making excellent use of the space through after-school fitness clubs, supported by staff as they work towards their individual goals. Meanwhile, our popular Run Club continues to grow, with two groups now available to cater for different abilities and running speeds.

From an academic perspective, Science Club remains as popular as ever, with students exploring a range of engaging scientific concepts and practical experiments. The Coding and Robotics Club has also been busy designing, building and programming robotic projects while learning about the growing role of artificial intelligence in technology.

We have also been encouraged by the growing interest in our modern languages clubs this half term. Both Turkish Club and French in Action have welcomed students looking to develop their language skills beyond the classroom while gaining a greater appreciation of different cultures and traditions.

The breadth of our co-curricular programme reflects our belief that education extends beyond academic study. Whether pursuing a creative interest, developing a new skill or simply trying something different, students are encouraged to explore opportunities that help them grow in confidence and discover what inspires them.
