Food plays an important role in school life, bringing students together and providing opportunities to discover new cultures, traditions and experiences.
This term, students have enjoyed a range of special themed lunches alongside the regular menu, bringing variety, discovery and celebration to the dining hall.
During Language Week, students explored flavours from around the world, sampling dishes inspired by Jamaican, British, Japanese, Italian and Chinese cuisine. Meanwhile, Anaphylaxis Awareness Week featured an allergy-friendly menu that demonstrated how inclusive dining can be both delicious and exciting, with students enjoying chicken wings, homemade wedges, roasted mixed vegetables and apple and cinnamon crumble served with dairy-free cream.
Black History Month was marked with a vibrant menu inspired by African and Caribbean cuisine, including Jamaican jerk chicken, rice ‘n’ peas and Nigerian jollof-style pumpkin and chickpea rice, followed by Melva cake with spiced custard. The month concludes with Halloween-themed treats, adding a touch of seasonal fun to lunchtime.
Looking ahead, Sixth Form students can look forward to a new break-time food offer, developed in response to student feedback and following a successful tasting event. The new menu will provide even greater choice and flexibility throughout the school day.
These themed events reflect our commitment to creating a positive dining experience that goes beyond simply providing lunch. By encouraging students to try new flavours, celebrate different cultures and share experiences with their peers, we help make lunchtime an enjoyable and memorable part of school life.
