Pastoral Care

At LPS Sixth, students benefit from the best of both worlds: the close-knit, supportive community of a small Sixth Form, alongside the growing independence they need to prepare for university and life beyond school.

Every student has their own tutor, whom they see each day, giving them a familiar and trusted point of contact throughout their Sixth Form journey. Alongside this, a dedicated pastoral lead for each year group provides an additional layer of support, ensuring students are known as individuals and that their wellbeing, progress and future plans are carefully supported.

We encourage students to take increasing responsibility for their own time. Each week, Sixth Formers have an Exeat, either an afternoon away from school or a later morning arrival when they have no timetabled lessons. This flexibility gives students greater freedom while helping them develop the independence, organisation and self-discipline they will need beyond school.
When additional support is needed, it is readily available. Students can access our school counsellor for help with personal concerns and wellbeing, while our academic mentors provide targeted support with areas such as study skills, homework and essay writing.

Sixth Formers also remain an important part of the wider LPS community. As members of one of our three Houses, Green Park, Hyde Park or St James’s Park, they have opportunities to take on responsibility, lead assemblies, support younger students and help shape school events. This allows them to enjoy greater independence while continuing to feel connected to a community in which they are known and valued.
