Why Choose LPS Sixth

.

Structured Independence

LPS Sixth offers more structure than a college and more freedom than a school  –  with the reassurance of the same warm, supportive ethos found across the LPS group. Students from LPS Mayfair, LPS Clapham and LPS Hybrid have a seamless transition to LPS Sixth and are joined by students from other schools.

We start with the person, not the subject

As with all schools within the LPS group, the focus at LPS Sixth is on individualised care and support.

This means that we don’t simply offer a menu of A level options, but a range of Career Pathways: ‘London Pathways’,  to help students make the optimal A Level choices for their future.

London Pathways: Career Pathways - not just A Level options

Our starting point is to identify a student’s strengths, understand their hopes and passions and help them on the pathway to their future. We want to know about your interests and aspirations; hopes and passions; your strengths, likes and dislikes so that we really understand YOU.  This will help us guide you on the correct Pathway for a successful future, armed with the right academic qualifications for your chosen next steps – whether that’s university or the world of work.

London Leaders: A Bespoke Sixth Form Enrichment Programme

Our London Leaders Programme is rich and varied and includes:

  • Extended Project Qualification – to help students develop and hone the analytical studies they’ll need for the next stage.
  • University Preparation – speakers, talks and university visits
  • Speaker Programme – we encourage our students to take ownership of our key speaker programme: who do YOU want to hear from?  How can you encourage them to come and speak to us?  What subjects interest you?
  • Trips and Visits – we make the most of our Central London base and visits have included the Houses of Parliament, Model UN, Cambridge University and many galleries and museums.
  • Dukes Education Opportunities – we take advantage of being part of Dukes and work with Oxbridge Applications, the A List and Lawyer and Medi Portal and InvestIn.
  • Real Work Experience – we expect all of our Year 12 students to undertake a week of work experience in the summer term and have good connections with a range of different employers
  • Mentoring – we work with the Heads of Mayfair and Clapham and local prep and primary schools to help our Sixth formers develop their leadershipskills through mentoring opportunities.

Stretch and Support

We offer students the help they need to make the most of their abilities and to achieve their desired outcomes, whether that’s additional help or extended work.  Our Enrichment leader spends time understanding each student’s needs so that we can prepare accordingly.

Sporting Opportunities

Students are welcome to join in with some of the LPS games on Wednesday afternoons or to use the in-house gym or visit the local Queen Mother’s Sports Centre.
