From map reading to teamwork, LPS Clapham students embraced every challenge on their Silver DofE journey through the New Forest.
Our Year 11 students set out early on a Saturday morning for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition, ready to test their skills, stamina, and teamwork across three days in the New Forest.
Starting at Janesmoor Pond, the group trekked southeast towards Brockenhurst, setting up camp for their first night under the stars. Spirits were high — especially once everyone had traded breakfast bars for a well-earned hot meal. The following days saw the team navigate new routes, work closely together, and show real determination as they moved west towards Wilverley Scout Camp.
Along the way, students captured wildlife on camera, improved their navigation and map-reading skills, and learned the value of supporting one another when energy dipped. Despite a few restless nights and tired legs, motivation stayed strong as the group completed their final leg and shared reflections with their instructor, Christy.
Head Girl Filippa summed up the experience perfectly:
“It was an amazing trip where we learnt so much — we’d definitely recommend Silver DofE to the years below!”
A challenging but rewarding adventure — and a well-deserved success for the LPS Clapham Year 11s.
