Admissions

Students at LPS Clapham, LPS Mayfair and Hybrid @ LPS have a seamless move up to LPS Sixth – as long as we all agree that A Levels are the right pathway for them. Students will discuss A level options and choices and have to confirm their place no later than the end of the spring term prior to entry.

Along with students from the LPS sites coming together, we also welcome new faces and look at applications on an individual, case by case basis.  Sixth Form is an opportunity for students to explore new subjects and to focus on what they enjoy.

In order for a student to access the demands of an A Level course we normally ask for a Grade 6 at GCSE in English and Maths and ideally, a 7 in the subjects that a student wishes to study for A Level.

If you are interested in applying to us and your grades are lower than expected – or if there are extenuating circumstances that mean that a Grade 6 or 7 may be unlikely, it is always worth having a discussion with us first. Please contact Admissions to arrange a conversation with our Director of Sixth Form, Nathan Mountford.

See our step-by-step guide to joining here.

A Straightforward Approach to Sixth Form Admissions

To get to know each applicant individually, we consider current school reports, a Head’s reference, and predicted GCSEs.  Much more importantly, we want to hear from YOU – the student.  We want to understand your aspirations, hopes and dreams for the future and the subjects you enjoy.  All potential Sixth form students – both internal and external, are invited to meet our Director of Sixth Form, Mr Mountford to discuss A Level options before confirmation of subjects.

Internal applicants:

  • Year 10
    • Summer Term: we’ll start the conversation with you about your interests and aspirations and invite you to our Summer Open Evening.
  • Year 11
    • Autumn Term: We’ll continue the conversation and ask you to think about your potential A Level choices and discuss these in more depth at our Open Evening.  We’ll ask you for your A Level options by the end of term.
    • End of Spring term: We’ll assume that LPS students will move on seamlessly to LPS Sixth – unless we hear from you in writing. We’ll ask you to confirm your place at LPS Sixth and subject choices.
    • Summer term:  we’ll invite you to some joiner events to help you get a feel for Sixth form life
    • Summer holidays:  Once you have your GCSE results, we will discuss and confirm your subject choices
  • Year 12
    • Autumn Term:  Start at LPS Sixth!
